Welcome!

We are so glad you found us and would like to welcome you as a new member of the Spokz People Community & Programme. My name is Mel and my partner Steve and I set up Spokz People in 2009 after realising there was very little emotional or wellbeing support for disabled people and their families. We love that you want to learn and grow and we want to support you in every way that we can. Here are all your instructions to get started.

You can login here: https://spokzpeople.org.uk/login/ using your email or username and your password you created on registering. Forgot your password? Don’t worry, you can reset it with your email address from the login page above.

Your wellbeing questionnaire, why do we need it? It helps you and us.

It will show you where you are now with your wellbeing and when you do it again in 6- and 12-months’ time and any time thereafter it will show you how things are improving or if you need additional support. As a non-profit organisation, we are always trying to get funding to keep your membership low. To do this, funders require ‘evidence’ that this community helps to improve wellbeing. Please send it to info@spokzpeople.org.uk. we will score it and email you your result and some suggestions.

Accessing the community

On the top menu bar of the website under ‘Members’ you can find your ‘Profile’, ‘Messages’ and the ‘Forum’. In your profile you can tell us more about yourself, change your preferences, or make new connections, to get started.

For Instant Chat with other members, once you are logged in, in the bottom right-hand corner of each page is a speech bubble. Click on this speech bubble. Across the bottom you’ll see ‘Chats’ and ‘Friends’.

Our weekly live group Wednesday Wellbeing

Every Wednesday (unless we are away or ill) we have a live meeting 7.30-8.45pm. Sometimes we have themed events about a chapter of the Wellbeing Programme, to support you towards making change. Other Wednesdays are more informal where you can listen in, support other members and bring any issues you need support with. These meetings are also a good opportunity to socialise, learn from others and perhaps find a buddy to work through the Wellbeing Programme. You can find dates for themed events and more on our live meetings here. Occasionally we record these meetings for other members, but we will let you know and if you do not want to be in the recording you can switch off your camera. We use Zoom and you can access the meetings through this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/74080060515?pwd=clBYdm5LSmJxYUp0NUlRVHBlUk5PZz09

Accessing the Wellbeing Programme

When you login and are on your dashboard, you will see at the bottom of the page Wellbeing in a purple box with the text + Course Menu (click to open). If you click on this you will see all 12 chapters. If you can, we suggest you start at the beginning and work your way through and after that return to sections that are most relevant or helpful to you. If you prefer to pick and mix, we suggest you read chapters 2-5 first before you dip in and out. Working through the programme may bring up uncomfortable things for you and it is important to do this safely as you work towards positive change in your life. This is all covered in these first chapters. Chapter 1 is for emergency support if you have any suicidal thoughts.
