That’s a great idea Brian.
I like the idea of a checklist.
I often get depressed not seeing friends and the only places I get to go to are waiting rooms and hospitals.
I do know that I am lucky that I do get to go out to medical stuff and I’m not housebound but I do get depressed when it’s only medical stuff and never a shop. The idea of the…[Read more]

I’m not as quick as you Julie.
I use speechify to read to me outlook but I find it hard to do when someone is with me.
Husband and carers will interrupt me.
It’s only an evening when my husband is out that I can really chill out and unwind and do a part.
By the way when you say chapter, do you count the whole chapter with all the parts or do you…[Read more] -

Thankyou Brian.
I will look into isochronic music. I have never heard of it.
I was never able to really do mindfulness or CBT in the past. My brain just won’t slow down and bounces everywhere.
However interesting you mention mindfulness as I have remembered that CBT encouraged me to collect sensory items for grounding. Thing with different…[Read more] -

Yes I often find people using me as an agony aunt.
We must put up boundaries to protect ourselves here, easier said than done. When we recognise a friend is coming to us upset but isn’t there for us, then they are unhealthy and are not a true friend. True friends make time for eachother. Givers must set limits and takers don’t have limits. Its…[Read more] -

Hello Julie and OnlyAlex
I think it’s a great idea to group up. 3 autistic brains working together will be impressive!!! The amount we get underestimated by neurotypical people is annoying. I bet we will do very well using our strengths to our advantage here while helping eachother aswell. -

I will pass on one piece of information that you all might find helpful. Disability Allowance was set up purely on what you have wrong with you, PIP is all about what you can or cannot do.
Sadly he declined to join us to help with a group chat about access to work and benifits but did want to share this.

I am also interested in finding a buddy. Although I don’t fully understand how this works.
I’m autistic and find reading and writing a bit difficult due to dyslexia and lack of confidence.
I’m quite mad in a good way. Normal is boring and overrated.
I’m on chapter 4.
I didn’t have the courage to ask before as the thread was empty. -

Hello.
I’m trying to think of ideas for self-care.
Most of the ideas on chapter 4.1 are either not my thing or not really possible for me. I struggle with reading and writing and am no good at putting myself first.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
So far I have the bed day plan where I stay in bed and do what I want every so…[Read more] -

I do luckily see the funny side here and joke about how she has the magic touch!!! I do wind her up a little about this but also kept this between us as she is mortified.
But yes, it is amazing how she was totally unaware of what she was doing. The potential a really bad outcome is high here, physically and emotionally. I have C-PTSD and many…[Read more] -

Can you both put your foot down and demand a mental capacity assessment to prove you both have capacity then demand they treat you better?
My concern with this advice is what if they twist stuff to decide they can deem you to not have capacity????
I have been through a mental capacity assessment while in hospital last year. They decided that…[Read more] -

So I was prescribed an external skin cream to be applied to my bum. This needs to be applied for me.
This one carer was very nervous doing this with my husband in the room so she asked my husband to leave the room for a few minutes, she was shy. I’m on my front and she rubbed it on but did go internal aswell but I didn’t say anything as she was…[Read more] -

I can’t picture images to make a safe place. To get round this, I used fantasy images and used an app to make the picture come alive. The waterfalls flowed, the mist spread across the screen, many other effects can be added.
These I have on my phone to look at to go to my safe space but I haven’t got further than this. -
