Spokz People Explained

What do we offer at Spokz People?

The two main elements of Spokz People are our wellbeing programme and our live weekly meetings, but do explore the menu across the top and your dashboard to ensure you find all parts of our support, such as the forum and our Comedy and Arts Corner.

1. Spokz People Wellbeing Programme

This is our programme designed to support your wellbeing as a disabled person. It’s full of information and resources which you can work through at your own pace. You can find it here or by clicking ‘Community Courses’ under Members in the menu along the top. It is designed to lead you through, but you can also dip in to chapters that look relevant to you if you do not wish to work through in order.

  • Chapter 1 is an Emergency Chapter on dealing with Overwhelm and Suicidal thoughts – we suggest you read this before starting so you can work through the programme safely
  • Chapters 2-5: We recommend starting with these chapters even if you then choose to pick and mix, as they will help you deal with any uncomfortable things that may come up as you work through the programme
  • You may wish to print the Programme Tracker before you start working through the programme.

2. Weekly Meetings:

  • Wednesday Wellbeing sessions: Our weekly meetings are usually 7.30-8.45pm on Wednesdays
    • These are sometimes themed sessions working through aspects of the programme
    • Other weeks they are informal sessions where anything disability related can be discussed
    • On the 1st Wednesday of each month, the meetings hosts can be available at 7.15pm to meet new members and answer any questions or concerns – please email info@spokzpeople.org.uk if you would like us to be there.
  • Time to Talk Tuesdays: Once a month we hold a daytime meeting 1.15-2.30pm instead of the Wednesday evening.
  • A full list of sessions and joining information is available here and you will receive an email reminder the day before each session

Weekly emails:

We send two emails each week:

  • Weekly meeting details: This will be sent the day before the meeting and will either have the subject “Wellbeing Wednesday Zoom Details” or “Time to Talk Tuesday Zoom Details”
    • This contains the details and link for the following days meeting.
  • Spokz People News: This is sent on a Thursday or Friday and may contain:
    • SP News and updates
    • Summary and follow up from the previous meeting
    • Recommendations
    • What’s on in future weeks (upcoming meetings)
  • Emails and communications aim to use the same colour coding used throughout this page
