Hi folks, thought I’d drop a question in here on the offchance anybody had some insight.

While I don’t consider myself physically disabled, I do have some issues with my feet as a result of skeletal deformities in my legs, which results in my wearing through shoes at ridiculous speeds. I often need to get walking shoes to ensure I’m getting something that will last more than a couple of months! I’m trying to find something that’s going to be hard wearing but suitable for everyday use, and struggling to find anything I have any condfidence in. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of of where to look that might be able to help. Also, I’m interested in other’s stories of difficulties finding clothes/items/equipment/etc that suits your needs, if you’re comfortable with sharing them.

With footwear, my feet are swollen and I cannot wear normal shoes unless they are 4 sizes too long.
There are 2 mobility shops I buy from. Cozyfeet but they are more designed for elderly and I don’t want pretty flower velcro saddles.
The other is DB Wider Fit Shoes. I recommend this company. They make shoes for problem feet which look normal and don’t scream disabled. They are very helpful on the phone line and the catalogue has a free measurement tool inside. Also any issue, free return and refund.

I now have trainers and boots!!!! No granny shoes.
Also getting specially made insoles could help.
Many years ago, podiatry used to make insoles for me to try to correct my feet. This didn’t work out for me but does work for many.

That’s a great suggestion Chloe, thanks! I’ve got some bigger, thicker boots, but they can be hard to wear for long periods and especially in weather like the UK has been having recently, plus they aren’t exactly work appropriate, even with my employers being pretty lax. They’re also pricey, so having a nice alternative will help a lot, I’ll check out DB Wider Fit.
