I don’t know much about the ombudsman but just wanted to respond to the silence. This is something many of us experience. It increases our anxiety and we our brains start filling in the gaps thinking of all the reasons there is silence, usual negative ones! Our brains try and fix things even when it can’t be fixed. The research shows that the way…[Read more]

We need some funny images of round Robins!!!
Typical me, for all who missed, didn’t understand the term ’round robin’ and wondered why Mel kept talking about putting stuff inside a fat bird!!!
For anyone lost, its the weekly email not a fat bird.

Mine has been with the ombudsman for over a year. About 4 months ago, my advocate told me the ombudsman had told her that it looks like they will side with me.
But so long has passed without an explanation or word that I phased out.
Others haven’t been successful. Somehow the ombudsman are happy to give trusts another chance to lie to them then…[Read more] -

Taking an organisation to the ombudsman is another isolating journey.
You go there and the organisation gets told you have taken them there. Then the organisation goes quiet and the ombudsman remains quiet. The processes seem to go on for weeks with no one speaking to you. They ask you not to put anything about the topic of investigation on…[Read more] -

Read about the mouse looking for the cheese and the mouse fleeing the owl.
This makes sense to me. When I am making goals and working out ways to achieve my goals. I get more and more creative. The more goals I achieve the more my mood improves. -

I get the sense of isolation a lot. I find it really difficult to be reliant on my family. This means I can only make friends online. The problem with this is you do not know when people will reply. Online isn’t the same as meeting someone in person or knowing you can telephone them.
I often feel isolated and this leads to me feeling low in mood a…[Read more] -

Of course I would have the rude version. Lol.
I like the idea of playing with dry rice and pasta!!!
I never thought of that!!!
Great idea!!! Thankyou!!!
Don’t worry about the childish barrier…. I have had to learn to ignore some of these social norms.I have never heard of this game. Is it on a console or mobile app? It sounds like I might…[Read more]

I have tried the binaural beats before and found it makes me feel quite on edge and the opposite of relaxed.
I might give it another try though.I am going to explore more music this week.
I also find audiobooks good because I can escape into a favourite book that I know well.
I think I am more of an ears type person.
I have been…[Read more]

Thank you for the replies. I will ask them straight out. My next meeting is 6th June 2023. Currently enjoying the peace and quiet of them leaving me alone with the once per week support worker. The care agency are treating me similar to how council are treating me but they are at same meeting on 6th June 2023. So will hear question too.

This binaural beats stuff looks really interesting.. I’m going to have to look into it. I was wondering if it was a similar concept to like tapping where you alternate sides as I’d heard if you can’t physically tap an alternative to the to reduce anxiety is listening to sounds through each ear alternatively so still using both sides, but it seems…[Read more]

Definitely! Music is a great place to escape to. I have all kinds of music I listen to depending on my mood, but I definitely have some that are for me relaxing or “safe”. For me, when I’m overwhelmed I tend to listen to relaxing classical music that I’m very familiar with as I know it will soothe me. My favourite for when I’m stressed and need to…[Read more]

I think this is a really good point about looking at the process not the end result. I often find it hard to start things because I feel like what I’m doing isn’t good enough or I won’t do a good though job or I’m not capable. I think it’s helpful as well to remember we learn and get better at things through our mistakes and so by doing it wrong…[Read more]

I tend to think of the breathing exercises not as having to do them exactly as “prescribed” in the programme but more as the point being mindful of your breathing and focusing on it in some way and being aware of it is beneficial, as it means you will not be breathing “badly”. I shouldn’t say badly, but by that I mean not hyperventilating if you…[Read more]

I am wondering if my safe space could be in a piece of music. I often like to close my eyes when I am overwhelmed but do not like silence. I am going to explore pieces of music. Like ones by Holst as this has angry and calm sections that my mind can become lost in. For me it will probably be classical music or Christian music but I guess any music…[Read more]
